Brock Bowers will miss the Raiders' season opener after undergoing a meniscus trim, with the current expectation that he could miss one or two games. For fantasy managers, that creates one of Week 1's clearest late injury adjustments.
The first move is obvious: Bowers cannot be started. The more interesting question is where his targets go in a Las Vegas offence that is already entering the season with a reshaped receiving group.
Michael Mayer gets the cleanest role bump
The Raiders' Week 1 depth chart lists Michael Mayer directly behind Bowers at tight end, with Ian Thomas third. Mayer therefore gets the clearest positional opportunity, but replacing Bowers' snaps is not the same thing as replacing Bowers' fantasy value.
Bowers has already shown the ability to command targets like a high-end receiver. Mayer is a useful all-around tight end, but managers should be careful about projecting Bowers' normal target share directly onto him.
The wider target tree
Las Vegas lists Jalen Nailor and Tre Tucker as its starting receivers, with Jack Bech and Malik Benson among the next options. A Bowers absence can increase the number of designed throws available to the receivers, especially in the intermediate areas where the tight end would normally be a first-read option.
That makes Tucker and Nailor slightly more interesting in deeper formats, but the main fantasy beneficiary may be volume stability for the running game. Ashton Jeanty sits atop the Raiders' depth chart and does not need Bowers' injury to create a workload; fewer proven receiving answers can simply make the offence lean harder on its best back.
